The Giants starting and relief pitching is one of the best overall in the Major leagues. Giants starters lead the majors in “quality starts” and their relief era is 6th among the majors. In additon Giants have more runs scored then any other team in the NL west. So why do the Giants keep losing? How is that even possible?
It seems like that with those stats in comparison to other teams you have only one conclusion to make, the Giants are beating their own selves mentally. There have been so many games where they lost by one run or blew a early lead or gave a pitcher no run support when he was doing outstanding.
Overall I feel that they’re hitting is really the problem. I have no problems with their pitching overall it’s been the best in years. So many times the pitchers get a lead or pitch beautiful and the Giants don’t give them run support in that game. Matt cain does not deserve a losing record, he is one of the best pitchers in baseball! And in close games when they are one run behind or tied the hitters never seem to get that winning run(s) in to get them ahead. They have had so many frustratingly close losses I’ve lost count.
The Giants hitting lineup needs some refreshing. Bring some kids into the lineup from the minors. Look what happened when Fred lewis came up and started some games, they won a couple games because of him.
As a whole for the season so far Bonds, Winn, Molina seem to be doing all the work and getting on base. What about the other 6?
