With the 2007 MLB All star game coming to san Francisco AT&T ballpark it’s especially important you vote for the deserving players.
Barry bonds has fallen behind Alfonso soriano. I believe Bonds deserves to get the vote. Bengie Molina is the other player that deserves the vote. Randy Winn should also be considered among outfielders I think.
You only have until June 28th to vote online. You can vote up to 25 times.

On the final game of the first red sox series for the Giants at Fenway Park in Boston, Bonds hit homerun #748 into the right field. It was his first home run at Fenway Park ever. You knew he had been dying to do it and he left some big tracks from some giant steps in the dirt as he rounded the bases in satisfaction. At first I wasn’t sure if it was a homerun, but it kept drifting and it well over the 380 wall in the bullpen area. It was bonds #441 different pitcher he has hit a homerun off of(major league record by far). It is now Bond’s 2nd home run of June. He has more home runs at this time in the season then he did at the same time last year.
The giants lost the game 9-5. They had a few chances to come back such as when the bases were loaded, but bengie molina hit a double play grounder.
Feliz also took it deep and taking advantage of the knuckleballer tim wakefield launched it over the green monster and out of fenway ball park.

Here is an interesting article by ESPN about the security for Barry bonds.
Bonds Security
I’ve always in the back of my mind wondered about this. I’m sure many others have wondered about this too. I don’t think even barry goes out much these days now that he is closing in on the record.
I’m sure Hank Aaron had more of a threat against him then Bonds because he was breaking the immortal Babe Ruth, luckily nothing happened too Aaron. It’s good to see that Bonds has lot’s of security at the games.

As Bonds was going through his second home run drought of the season he finally launched homerun #747 into center field when the giants were behind 3-1 for a 2 run homer to tie the game 3-3. The giants then took the lead 4-3 in the game and won it.
I was going to write a blogpost in a few days about how some are questioning if “this is it” and if age has caught up to bonds. I thought the whole notion was crazy. He hit 12 homeruns in his first month with very few at bats. That is not someone who age has caught up with. Now that he has hit another homerun hopefully that can set the theories at bay.
Lets not forget Morris who pitched beautiful and had a complete game for his 3rd time this season. Morris has been a true asset this year. And a great surprise this year considering his win record last year.

The Giants starting and relief pitching is one of the best overall in the Major leagues. Giants starters lead the majors in “quality starts” and their relief era is 6th among the majors. In additon Giants have more runs scored then any other team in the NL west. So why do the Giants keep losing? How is that even possible?
It seems like that with those stats in comparison to other teams you have only one conclusion to make, the Giants are beating their own selves mentally. There have been so many games where they lost by one run or blew a early lead or gave a pitcher no run support when he was doing outstanding.
Overall I feel that they’re hitting is really the problem. I have no problems with their pitching overall it’s been the best in years. So many times the pitchers get a lead or pitch beautiful and the Giants don’t give them run support in that game. Matt cain does not deserve a losing record, he is one of the best pitchers in baseball! And in close games when they are one run behind or tied the hitters never seem to get that winning run(s) in to get them ahead. They have had so many frustratingly close losses I’ve lost count.
The Giants hitting lineup needs some refreshing. Bring some kids into the lineup from the minors. Look what happened when Fred lewis came up and started some games, they won a couple games because of him.
As a whole for the season so far Bonds, Winn, Molina seem to be doing all the work and getting on base. What about the other 6?

Tim Lincecum as the starter was taken out for the bullpen in the 5th inning after giants fell behind 3 to 1 in the 5th. Giants scored the second run when Klesko hit a ball that richoceted off the wall. Klesko barely beat out the tag as he slid into 3rd base for the triple. Barry bonds came up to bat next and hit a smoking line drine past the wishbone defense specially against him to get the game tying RBI.
After loading the bases in the bottom of the 9th with the game tied with Klesko and bonds both intentionally walked in a row the giants strand the runners and the game goes into the 10th.
The catch Alfonso and the A’s runner collide at home plate for a play. Alfonso is clipped bluntly in the knee area and has to leave the game. With Alfonso already taking Molina’s place they were out of catchers. Noah Lowry had to fill in right field and Randy Winn 3rd base.
Feliz had some experience as a catcher I believe, but not as a major leaguer. Winn was the most “out of place” of the players in their new defensive roles. Feliz played the position beautiful. There was one scare on a grounder pitch that feliz snatched up like it was a backhanded 3rd base grounder as if he was still playing 3rd base.

The man who brought us some of the most entertaining 9th inning games for one reason or another, Armando Benitez has now gone to the marlins in a trade for right handed reliever for Randy Messenger.
While I’ll miss the exciting games he created at the end of the game, I certainly don’t miss the many games he blew. It seems too late though. It would have been smart to get rid of benitez last year. He actually overall wasn’t doing too bad this year. He only had one two blown saves and one of them was unfair of how it went down at Shea Stadium
I guess no one wanted him last year considering his record and after coming back from a long injury the previous year before that. The Giants were probably waiting till his record got better before they could have a chance to get him off their hands for someone better.

It started in the 2nd inning when Fred Lewis hit a grand slam. Fred Lewis has done so much for the short time he has been in the major leagues. The high batting average, the cycle, and now the grand slam all in his couple months with Major league experience under his belt.

The giants continue to unleash offense until they had 13 runs by the middle of the game. Barry Bonds ripped a ball that went to the center field wall that would have been #747 had it had more height to it.
Matt Morris had a no-hitter until 2 outs in the 6th inning. For one of the rare times this season the hitting and Pitching was outstanding simultaneously in a game. Matt morris continues to lead the team in most wins. What a great reversal compared to how things went last year for him on the Giants.

Where to begin? Giants had a 2-0 lead until the middle of the game when the mets tied it up with Carlos Delgado’s towering homerun. Then ortomeier got his first career homerun to have the giants take a 3-2 lead. Mets then comeback to tie the game.
In the 9th the bases become loaded with the game on the line. 48(soon to be 49 year old) Julio Franco comes in to pinch hit. He hits one down the middle and Omar Vizquel at Shortstop dives and grabs the ball without a clean swipe so having to toss it up to second baseman Kevin Frandsen who does a miraculous one handed catch with his barehand and on top of that he snowcones it in his barehand barely keeping it in his grasp all while stretching his leg out as far as he can in order to catch the ball.
In the 10th inning Barry bonds comes into the game as a pinch hitter. During the at bat they chant derogatory sentence at Barry (which I won’t bother giving them the benefit of repeating). So now we know the mets fans are full of low class idiots. Barry Bonds is walked and the inning ends without any runs scored.
Fast forward to the 12th inning after some close game ending situations. Armando Benitez comes into relieve for the Giants after they take the lead. The first base umpire calls a balk on Benitez which was a very bad call. You couldn’t even see how it was a balk. Then Reyes is able to get to 3rd base after another hit. Then the 3rd baseman calls a balk on Benetiz. This one had more merit, but the two balks in a row cause the mets to tie the game.
Angry Benitez who looks like he is about to knock the umpires out throws a pitch in the fat part of the strike zone and carlos Delgado takes advantage and hits a towering walk off home run.

Well the giants in the end didn’t get a win as they went into the 10th inning to lose 6 to 4. Barry gave a very balanced swing early in the game for a popup near the warning track and you had a feeling that he was “back” in his groove again.
The next at bat bonds slams a home run it into center field. No question about it when you heard the loud crack it was gone. His home runs are so magnificent. The home run ended his longest streak of not having any rbi’s or home runs in a game at 17 games in a row (the most since 1987,his second year in baseball).
A week back there was a game at AT&T park where Barry Bonds hit it in the deep part of the park where it would have been a homerun in ANY other ballpark in the U.S.A so I never felt myself his homerun less streak was as bad in reality as it was “on paper”.
The giants hitting once again overall has not kept up with the opposing teams all while the Giants starting pitchers continue to do a solid job. I believe the relievers are buckling often because of the pressure from the lack of run support from the Giants in cruical points of the game.
